Assessment/Testing

The Assessment office within the Instruction Department is responsible for the administration and evaluation of district and statewide assessments that occur within District 4J. The primary assessment administered to students in grades 3 through 8 and in High School throughout Oregon is referred to as the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge & Skills (OAKS).

OAKS Testing Resources 2009/10: ODE Test Administration Manual, Assurance of Security Forms, OAKS Online manuals, Allowable Resources, Achievement Standards Summary, Accommodation/Modification Tables, and other resources to assist schools in the administration of OAKS are available HERE

The Oregon English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) is used to measure English proficiency for non-native speakers, or English Language Learners (ELL).

Schools, districts, and states are held accountable towards making academic progress under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). Oregon has two primary means of reporting how its schools are performing: School and District Report Cards and Adequate Yearly Progress Reports.
