The primary goal for the Eugene School District 4J is to raise student achievement for all students and close the achievement gap. In the interest of ensuring that all students have access to instruction in all of the Oregon state standards, teams of district expert teachers prioritized the standards for language arts, math, social studies, and health. The standards for other content areas will be prioritized and updated with each new textbook adoption. This document identifies three levels of importance given for teaching these standards. The prioritized standards are identified with an E, I, or C.

• Essential (E): Fifty-percent of the standards are identified as the first priority to teach.
• Important (I): Thirty percent of the standards are identified as the second priority to teach.
• Condensed (C): Twenty-percent of the standards are identified as the third priority to teach.

This document provides a guide for the development of teacher’s lesson plans, school-wide articulation and the textbook adoption process. Additional information on the Oregon State Standards is available at the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) website.

Estándares Priorizados de 4J

El objetivo principal del Distrito Escolar de Eugene 4J es aumentar el rendimiento estudiantil para todos los alumnos y cerrar la brecha de rendimiento. Con el interés de garantizar que todos los estudiantes tengan acceso a la instrucción en todos los estándares del estado de Oregón, los equipos de maestros expertos del distrito priorizaron los estándares de artes del lenguaje, matemáticas, estudios sociales y salud. Los estándares para otras áreas de contenido se priorizarán y actualizarán con cada nueva adopción de libro de texto. Este documento identifica tres niveles de importancia para la enseñanza de estos estándares. Los estándares priorizados se identifican con una E, I o C.

• Esencial (E): el cincuenta por ciento de los estándares se identifican como la primera prioridad para enseñar.
• Importante (I): El treinta por ciento de los estándares se identifican como la segunda prioridad para enseñar.
• Condensado (C): Veinte por ciento de los estándares se identifican como la tercera prioridad para enseñar.
