New Faces Coming to Principals' Offices in 2010–11

New administrators at Adams, Charlemagne, Churchill, Edison, Madison, River Road, Spring Creek and North Eugene
The Eugene School District is pleased to announce principal and assistant principal appointments at five elementary schools, one middle school and four high schools for 2010–11. Three of the new administrators are new to Eugene.
Elementary Schools:
Adams: Adams Elementary School’s new principal will be Cindy Sainz, formerly assistant principal at Churchill High School. Ms. Sainz replaces retiring Adams principal Pamela Irvine.
Charlemagne: Tom Maloney, formerly principal of Edison Elementary School, has been appointed principal of Charlemagne French Immersion Elementary School at Fox Hollow, replacing Martha Moultry who is retiring.
Edison: Morley Hegstrom, a highly skilled and capable school administrator who retired as principal of Roosevelt Middle School in 2009, will return to take the helm at Edison Elementary for the 2010–11 school year. Ms. Hegstrom has many years of experience as both a middle and elementary level principal, as well as a deep understanding of the Edison neighborhood and South Eugene region. Ms. Hegstrom replaces Tom Maloney, who is moving to Charlemagne.
River Road: The new principal of River Road / El Camino del Rio Elementary School will be Ana Ramirez, a technology consultant and former Douglas Education Service District administrator. Ms. Ramirez replaces principal Paco Furlan, who has accepted an elementary principal position in Berkeley, Calif.
Spring Creek: Amy Tidwell, formerly assistant principal at Madison Middle School, has been named principal of Spring Creek Elementary School to replace retiring principal Jane Carter.
Middle Schools:
Madison: Alicia Kruska is joining the Madison Middle School staff as assistant principal, working alongside principal Rick Gaultney. Stepping into the position vacated by Amy Tidwell, Ms. Kruska brings recent experience as a math teacher and staff development specialist at Cal Young Middle School, and districtwide administrator for the middle school summer academy.
High Schools:
Churchill: With Cindy Sainz's move to the principal's office at Adams Elementary, Churchill High School welcomes Lizette Mouett as assistant principal, joining the administrative team of Kim Finch and Londa Rochholz. Lizette comes to 4J from Pleasant Hill High School, where she has taught as a bilingual world language teacher for a number of years.
North Eugene: With the retirement of Dennis Biggerstaff, who served as the half-time campus principal at North Eugene High School this year, the high school campus next year will be overseen by an experienced 4J administrator: Brad New's assignment for the 2010–11 school year has been expanded to include NEHS, serving as the Secondary Education and North Campus Administrator.
North IDEAS: Casandra Kamens has been named the principal of the School of IDEAS (Invention, Design, Engineering, Art, Science), one of the three small schools at North Eugene High School. Ms. Kamens has been a part of the small school conversion from its earliest days and has been a strong leader in the area of equity, data management and use, and instructional practice. Ms. Kamens replaces departing principal Kay Graham, who is leaving 4J after seven years at North to become the principal of Cottage Grove High School.
North IHS: Anne Erwin will be the new principal of North International High School, replacing departing principal Sally Huling. Ms. Erwin comes to 4J from Hillsboro High School, where she has gained considerable experience with curriculum and instruction in her 25 years as a social studies teacher and assistant principal.
