Superintendent Berman Writes on Turning Around Struggling Schools
Article on persistently low-achieving schools published in national education magazine
November 2, 2011 — The current issue of Education Week includes a commentary by 4J Superintendent Sheldon Berman and a co-writer. Education Week is a national publication that is widely read and respected by education professionals.
Dr. Berman's article, "A Better Turnaround Strategy," addresses approaches to turning around persistently low-achieving schools. No 4J schools have been rated as persistently low-achieving; however, Dr. Berman had experience working with several such schools in Louisville, Ky.
Commentary: A Better Turnaround Strategy: "Sheldon H. Berman and Arthur Camins describe a successful turnaround model which promotes a professionalized and collaborative teaching culture that is also student centered."
