Gym Rules & Guidelines

 

To ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for everyone, please review and follow the gym rules below. We appreciate your cooperation and respect for our facilities and fellow users.

General Conduct

  • Be respectful of others and facility property at all times.
  • Appropriate (non-marking) gym shoes are required of all participants involved in active sports and games.
  • Food, gum, beverages, and glass are prohibited.
  • No foul language, disruptive behavior, or harassment of any kind.
  • No sunscreen or bug spray should be sprayed inside the gym.

 

Equipment & Facility Use

  • Use equipment only for its intended purpose.
  • Return gym to how you found it. (If hoops have been raised or lowered, they must be returned to original height. All balls and other gym equipment must remain in the gym. No throwing or bouncing balls in hallways. Volleyball nets and standards must be taken down and properly put back to their original storage.)
  • Do not hang on basketball rims or nets.
  • Do not sit on the top row of bleachers unless fully extended.
  • Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to staff immediately.
  • Do not move or remove gym equipment without staff approval.
  • Office spaces and closets are not to be accessed at any time.
  • No Maker-Space use in the gyms (craft projects, etc.).
  • No baseball or softball activities in the gyms (including batting practice, throwing, or catching).
  • No wheeled sports equipment allowed inside the gym (roller skates, in-line skates, skateboards, e-bikes, e-scooters or other electric mobile devices  etc.).
  • Keep exits, hallways, and doors clear at all times.

 

Safety & Supervision

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • No running, roughhousing, or horseplay.
  • No climbing on bleachers, walls, or storage areas.
  • Do not enter the gym unless your group’s scheduled time has begun.
  • In case of emergency, follow staff instructions and exit through the nearest marked exit.
  • If this room is in need of custodial services, please advise staff or the facilities department immediately.

 

Scheduling & Access

  • Only authorized groups with approved facility use permits may use the gym.
  • Scheduled events have priority.
  • Groups must use the facility only during their scheduled times.
  • All participants must vacate the gym promptly at the end of their reserved time.
  • Do not prop open exterior doors.
  • Badge access may be provided for authorized users only.

 

Cleanliness

  • Clean up after yourself and your group.
  • Dispose of trash and recyclables in designated containers.
  • Do not bring muddy shoes or outdoor equipment into the gym.
  • No tape or adhesives on floors, walls, or bleachers.

 

Facility Use Terms

  • All Eugene School District 4J Facility Use Terms and Conditions and any other posted rules at the site apply to all events.
  • Additional charges for maintenance and custodial services may be applied if areas are damaged or left in disarray.
  • Any district employee and/or safety and security officer shall have authority to immediately remove from school premises any person who has violated any terms and conditions for facility use.
  • Violation of any terms and conditions for facilities use shall constitute grounds for revocation of the existing permit for use and/or denial of future permissions to use district facilities.
