Eugene School District 4J offers a wide and diverse selection of medical, dental and vision plans. We understand the importance of your professional and personal life. To that end, we administer a comprehensive benefits package designed to help employees stay healthy, prepare for the unexpected, care for their families, and build a secure future. The package options include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, tax-free spending accounts, an employee assistance program, and retirement savings plans.
As a benefits-eligible employee at Eugene School District 4J, your benefits begin on the day you start in your benefits-eligible position. The district offers mandatory benefits which you are automatically enrolled into and optional benefits which you can choose to enroll in.
All benefit-eligible employees are offered the same benefits:
- Medical Plans (includes prescriptions) – Eugene School District currently offers health plans through MODA and Kaiser Permanente.
- Dental Plans – There are 3 dental plans to choose from with either Delta Dental (MODA) or Willamette Dental. You can also elect to waive dental coverage but you cannot elect just dental and no medical coverage.
- Vision – this plan is automatically included in your medical plan, you cannot waive this plan if you are enrolling in medical coverage and you cannot elect to enroll in just vision coverage with no medical coverage.
- Flexible Spending Accounts – both Health Related Expense and Dependent Care Expense accounts
- Basic Life Insurance – Each benefit eligible employee is provided a basic life insurance policy
- Wellness Clinic – The Wellness Clinic is a medical clinic run through a joint effort of the District and its employees to provide insurance eligible 4J employees, retirees and their dependents medical care for routine needs. There is no cost to the employee or their qualified dependent for visits to the clinic.
- Optional Life Insurance – Eligible employees can elect additional life insurance for themselves, their spouse or domestic partner and their dependent children.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – Free or discounted services provided to all eligible employees and their dependents.
- Employee Wellness Activities, including discounted gym membership, wellness webinars, and in-person classes which include: fitness, yoga, health and wellness, and a variety of activities.
- WW (Weight Watchers) – Reach your weight-loss and wellness goals with a free membership.

Existing employees can change their enrollments each year during open enrollment. There are a few qualifying life events that allow specific changes outside of the open enrollment period.
