UPDATE, APRIL 15:
Buena Vista, Kennedy and Roosevelt all made it to the rounds of 16 in their respective tournaments. Congratulations, teams, for your great showing and your hard work leading up the school, regional and state competitions! 

Congratulations to 4J’s four Oregon Battle of the Books teams who are readying to vie for a title in the elementary and middle school divisions at the 2024 Oregon Battle of the Books state tournament this Saturday, April 13. The teams qualified for the statewide tournament by finishing within the top three during their respective regional tournaments last month.

FIRST PLACE: Buena Vista Spanish Immersion Elementary School's team won the 53-school elementary school division (grades 3–5) with fifth-grade team members Florence Ching, Nolan Fenley, Shaurya Narreddy, Luca Ritchie and Elle Svejcar.

FIRST PLACE: Roosevelt Middle School's team won the 24-school middle school division (grades 6–8) with sixth-grade team members Indu Carden, Eloise Madden, Greta Madden, and Melody Proudfoot.

SECOND PLACE: Kennedy Middle School's team placed second with team members Iris Kimball (7th), Delia Sweeney (7th), Jaylee Veal (8th), Miriam Wohlers (8th), and Catie Zacks (8th).

THIRD PLACE: Edgewood Elementary School's team finished third with fifth-grade team members Ava Alexander, Sibley Cates, Dantong Chen, Summer Kofranek and Kate Stieber.

Congratulations again to these brilliant bookworms and best of luck! The 2024–25 reading list is now available; contact the classroom teacher or school if your student is interested in joining or forming a team next year.

Listos para la mayor de las batallas

Felicitaciones a los cuatro equipos del 4J para la Batalla de los libros de Oregón que se están preparando para competir por un título en las divisiones de escuelas primarias y secundarias en el torneo estatal Oregon Battle of the Books 2024 este sábado 13 de abril. Los equipos se clasificaron para el torneo estatal al terminar entre los tres primeros durante sus respectivos torneos regionales el mes pasado.

PRIMER LUGAR: Primaria de Inmersión en Español Buena Vista El equipo ganó la división de escuelas primarias de 53 escuelas (grados 3 a 5) con miembros del equipo de quinto grado: Florencia Ching, Nolan Fenley,Shaurya Narreddy, Lucas Ritchie y Elle Svejcar.

PRIMER LUGAR: Secundaria Roosevelt El equipo ganó la división de escuelas secundarias de 24 escuelas (grados 6 al 8) con miembros del equipo de sexto grado: Indu Carden, Eloise Madden, Greta Madden, y Melody Proudfoot.

SEGUNDO LUGAR: El equipo de la Secundaria Kennedy quedó en segundo lugar con sus miembros del equipo: Iris Kimball 7mo), Delia Sweeney (7mo), Jaylee Veal (8vo), Miriam Wohlers (8vo), y Catie Zacks (8vo).

TERCER LUGAR: Primaria Edgewood Su equipo terminó tercero con sus miembros del equipo de quinto grado: Ava Alexander, Sibley Cates, Dantong Chen, Verano Kofranek y Kate Stieber.
