Eugene School District 4J

Equity. Excellence. Innovation.

Equity & Inclusion Home

Welcome! In 4J, equity is:

  • Ensuring that each and every learner receives the necessary resources they need to individually succeed.
  • Reducing the predictability of who succeeds and who fails.
  • Creating change to support underserved and historically excluded students, including students with disabilities.
  • Cultivating the unique gifts and talents of every student.

Equity Goal

Eugene School District 4J is committed to eliminating gaps in opportunities and barriers to access which are highly predictable by a student’s race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, disability, socioeconomic status, and geographic location.

We share the goal of improving outcomes for each and every student.

Inclusive Language Brochure

These guidelines were compiled by the Eugene School District 4J Department of Equity, Inclusion & Instruction, in consultation with local community groups and stakeholders.

Educational Equity Advisory Committee

The Eugene School District 4J (4J) Educational Equity Advisory Committee (EEAC) was established in alignment with Oregon’s Senate Bill 732 (SB 732) and 4J’s Policy Code BCFA. The EEAC is part of the district’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, providing a collaborative framework for addressing educational disparities, particularly those affecting historically underserved communities.

The EEAC supports Eugene School District 4J in advancing educational equity through advisory to the Board and Superintendent on policies that affect underrepresented groups. The committee works to elevate community voices, advocate for system-wide improvements, and guide inclusive policy development, ensuring that all district decisions align with principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The EEAC plays a crucial role in:

  • Advising the Board and Superintendent on the educational impacts of policy decisions, the larger district-wide climate, issues impacting underserved student groups, and additional topics necessary to elevate student experiences.
  • Engaging community voices, especially those communities that have been or are marginalized and underserved by the school system.
  • Advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging in the Eugene 4J school district.
