The Budget Committee is a 14-person committee that consists of the School Board and an equal number of appointees. The purpose of the Budget Committee is to review and approve a proposed school budget, ensuring that it aligns with the district’s educational goals and priorities, while also allowing for community input and feedback. The district prepares its annual budget in accordance with provisions of Oregon local budget law, which establishes the procedures for managing public budgets.
Budget preparation takes place over several months with the Superintendent and directors. Once a proposed budget is completed, it is presented to the budget committee, which then reviews the proposed budget and receives public comment. The budget committee approves the budget and property tax rates for any debt service requirement along with any necessary revisions before it goes before the school board for adoption.
The budget committee has a public email list for meeting communiciation. To request to be added to that list, please click the link here: budget committee email list.
