This onboarding page is for our walk-on coaches. If you already have a regular position with 4J, your athletics position will be added to your HR/Payroll profile after it is approved. The only additional action item you’ll need to complete is your coaching-specific Safe Schools training, which will be emailed to you like normal.
If you are a walk-on coach with only an athletics position, please continue with the rest of this page. If you have questions, you can reference our New Hire FAQs or contact us.
Please ensure to review the instructions thoroughly before filling out your paperwork.
If you do not have access to a printer, you can visit our HR/Finance Resource Center and they will print the paperwork for you. Some new employees choose to come early on orientation day in order to complete their paperwork. You can reach the Resource Center at 541-790-7670.
Please note, if you do not have your onboarding packet completed before orientation, you will be asked to reschedule for the next week’s class. You cannot start your paid coaching position until you have fully completed this new hire processing.
All of the following is required for new hire orientation:
All employees who are not licensed and fingerprinted by the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) are required to be fingerprinted by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) in order to be employed with Eugene 4J. Please note, you should not book an appointment until directed to by your HR representative.
The total cost for fingerprinting is $78.50, broken out below. The process is quick and easy:
Important information for your review:
Please note, your supervisor for your athletics position will be the building Principal or designated Assistant Principal. They are the ones responsible for the school budget, making personnel decisions for positions they manage, staffing (including hiring for positions) and investigating concerns within the building. The Human Resources Department establishes pay and compensation practices.
The Athletic Director is responsible for leading/directing the athletics program in the building. They assist the building Administration in many of their tasks. A Head Coach is responsible for the direction of their sport. They are not supervisors. A Head Coach may direct the day to day work of assistant coaches, may participate in the hiring process, but is not authorized to establish compensation agreements, discipline employees, or to make hiring decisions.
If you have any concerns they should be brought to the attention of the Principal (or designated Assistant Principal), your Athletic Director, or Human Resources.
