Students are encouraged to walk, bike, ride the bus or use other forms of active and shared transportation to and from school.

4J School Bus

• Bus Stops & Routes
• Who is eligible:
  • Elementary school students who live at least 1 mile from school may ride 4J buses to and from their neighborhood school.
  • Middle school students who live at least 1.5 miles from school may ride 4J buses to and from their neighborhood school.
  • High school students who live more than 1.5 miles from a Lane Transit District (LTD) bus stop and attend their neighborhood school, and for students who are assigned school bus service with their special education plan.

New 4J Walk Zone Boundaries (2024-25) FAQ

Exceptions are granted for students who live closer than the limits and reside within a hazardous walk area as defined by state guidelines, and for students who are assigned school bus transportation as part of their special education plan.

• School Choice: In most cases, 4J bus service is provided only to students attending their neighborhood school. Buses travel only within a school’s attendance boundary. School choice and transfer students may use existing bus services if space is available; otherwise, families must provide their own transportation.

• Public Transportation: Free LTD bus passes are available to all 4J students through your school office.
• Carpooling & Active Transportation: Contact Safe Routes to School for assistance with walk/bike route planning and carpooling.
