Employees and volunteers at Eugene School District 4J make a difference in the lives of students every day. A bushel of 254 outstanding employees and volunteers have been nominated by parents, students and colleagues for a 2026 Golden Apple Award.
Winners among the nominees will be selected in four categories: Teachers & Licensed Specialist; Classified Staff; Administrator, Supervisor & Professional; and Volunteers. Three additional honors will also be given: the Lifetime Achievement Award; the Apple Seed Award, which recognizes an educator excelling in their early career; and the Spotlight Award, which celebrates an indivicual or team that embodies 4J’s spirit of kindness, service and teamwork.
The winners will be announced in May and featured on the district website and Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as in the family and staff e-newsletters. They will be invited for special recognition to a school board meeting, and Superintendent Miriam Mickelson and other leaders will visit the winners at their work sites to congratulate them and bestow the keepsake awards. Each winner also will receive a $250 grant from the Eugene Education Foundation for the 4J school or program of their choosing. There will be no celebration due to the district’s ongoing financial challenges.
Congratulations to all of this year’s Golden Apple Award nominees!
