Submit a Nomination

Current and former families, students, staff, alumni, neighbors, Tribal partners, community organizations, and members of the broader community are invited to suggest potential names for the school.

The nomination form will ask you to provide:

• The proposed school name.
• Why you are recommending the name.
• The name’s connection to the school, Eugene, local history, geography, culture, education, or community values.
• Relevant historical or cultural context, if applicable.
• For a name involving an individual, background information that may assist the district’s due-diligence review.

How Names Will Be Reviewed

Every viable nomination will be reviewed using the same published criteria. The review will consider:

• Board Policy FF compliance.
• Student belonging and identity.
• Cultural and historical significance.
• Connection to the school, Eugene, local history, geography, or community values.
• Inclusivity and representation.
• Long-term appropriateness.
• Educational value.
• Completion of required due diligence and consultation.
• Operational feasibility, including naming conflicts, pronunciation, translation, and basic implementation considerations.

No finalist will be published until the Renaming Advisory Committee completes the required screening and certifies that the finalist meets Policy FF, has completed required due diligence, and is appropriate for public consideration.

If a potential name involves Indigenous language, history, culture, or place, appropriate Tribal consultation will occur before that name advances.
