First new high school building in over 50 years is on schedule for 2023 opening
Construction is underway on Silver Lane off River Road, as the new North Eugene High School inches closer to reality.
The new high school building is starting to take shape inside and out. Easily seen from the road, the structural steel “skeleton” of the new building is almost complete thanks to the large cranes moving the heavy materials into position for assembly. Workers have assembled the steel on the west side of the school property and poured concrete to shape the first and second floor.
With a wet winter on the way, construction manager/general contractor (CM/GM) Lease Crutcher Lewis has started readying the site for interior work. Roofing and window crews are helping “dry-in” certain areas of the building to support interior finishes in the coming months.
Exterior building materials are being installed on the exterior walls to protect the delicate interior work taking place. This shell, known as the “building envelope,” utilizes overlapping materials of exterior sheathing, vapor barriers and increased insulation to create an energy-efficient building that stays cool in summer and warm in the winter.
As masonry crews finish the concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls of the gyms, they will transition to installing the brick veneer on the west end of the property. Interior framing and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) rough-in are transforming large open areas of the building into functional areas such as classrooms and labs.
The following is a collection of photos taken from August to November, showcasing the hard work of local construction contractors creating the new school building at the NEHS site.
The new North is designed for safety and security, efficiency and sustainability, and 21st century learning including career technical education. The new high school will be a high-quality learning environment and community asset now and for generations to come. The project is on track for a fall 2023 opening date.
The new flagship high school is made possible by the overwhelming community support of the 2018 school bond measure. Bond funds will be used for capital improvements for all 4J schools, including new buildings for North Eugene High School, Edison Elementary School and Camas Ridge Elementary School, expansion of Gilham Elementary School and other improvements across the district.

La nueva Preparatoria North Eugene va tomando forma este otoño
El primer edificio de preparatoria en más de 50 años se inaugurará en 2023
La construcción está en camino en Silver Lane y la nueva preparatoria de North Eugene se va acercando más a hacerse realidad.
El nuevo edificio de la preparatoria va tomando forma adentro y afuera. Fácil de ver desde la calle, el “esqueleto” estructural de acero del nuevo edificio está casi terminado gracias a la ayuda de grandes grúas que mueven los materiales pesados a su posición para ensamblaje. Los trabajadores ya ensamblaron el acero del lado oeste de la propiedad escolar y vertieron el concreto para darles forma al primer y segundo piso.
Con la llegada de un invierno lluvioso, el contratista general a cargo de la construcción (CM/GM) Lease Crutcher Lewis empezó a preparar el sitio para el trabajo interior. Las cuadrillas especializadas en techos y ventanas ayudan a mantener el edificio seco para facilitar las instalaciones internas en los próximos meses.
Se están instalando en las paredes del exterior del edificio materiales que protegen el trabajo delicado que va dentro de las paredes y en el interior. Conforme los albañiles terminen la unidad de las paredes de concreto (CMU) del gimnasio, seguirán con el revestimiento de ladrillos en el lado oeste de la propiedad. El enmarcado interior y la fase de instalación (MEP) de líneas y ductos de plomería, electricidad, wifi, y HVAC, van transformando las áreas grandes del interior del edificio en varias áreas funcionales como salones y laboratorios.

La nueva North está diseñada para la seguridad y protección, eficiencia y sostenibilidad, y para una enseñanza del siglo 21 que incluye educación técnica profesional. La nueva secundaria va a tener un ambiente de enseñanza de alta calidad que será un factor valioso para la presente comunidad y para las generaciones por venir. La nueva preparatoria insignia ha sido posible gracias al inmenso apoyo de la comunidad a la medida del bono escolar del 2018. Los fondos del bono se usarán para mejoras estructurales de todas las escuelas de 4J, incluyendo los nuevos edificios de la Preparatoria North Eugene, la Escuela Primaria Edison y la Escuela Primaria Camas Ridge, la expansión de la Escuela Primaria Gilham y otras mejoras a través del distrito.
